On 27 June 2016 and on 30 June 2016 , the sustainable building materials/component manufacture training and business networking took place in Chongqing and in Kunming, respectively. In total, 130 participants attended the courses. The majority of the participants came from SMEs from the building materials sector in Chongqing and Yunnan. The training was supported by all Chinese partners and local authorities.

The training covered the following five sessions:           

Session 1: Cleaner production of building materials. This session focused on basic concepts and the development of cleaner production of building materials sector, national policies, standards and technical guidelines for cleaner production, auditing of building materials companies, and best practices of cleaner production of building materials.

Session 2: Green building materials labelling. In this session, a MoHURD expert presented the national progamme of green building materials labelling, including the application procedure and criteria for green building materials labelling and national policies of promoting green building materials labelling in China.

Session 3: Local practices of developing sustainable building materials. In this session, local experts and authorities presented local actions, cases, policies and their enforcements, experiences and lessons learned in the development of green building materials.

Session 4: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable report of building materials companies. This session focused on the update development of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), basic requirements of sustainable development reports for companies, and why CSR is important for modern enterprises.

Session 5: Networking among building materials companies, local authorities, sector association and R&D institutes. During the training, local SMEs, German building materials companies, local authorities and local R&D institutes had exchanges on how the green building materials sector in western China could achieve high sustainability criteria and how the market demand for green building materials in western China could be created and developed.
